Assistant Accountant

Our client is a growing Group business with a strong presence across the North and a well-established local reputation. We are seeking a detail-driven Assistant Accountant to join their busy finance team at the Carlisle Head Office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, and producing accurate, high-quality financial information. You will be part of a supportive, values-led team where you can continue developing your finance career while contributing to ongoing improvements across the business. Typical duties will include; Bank reconciliations and ledger maintenance Raise and process invoices, including consolidated invoicing Credit control and supplier remittances Journals, accruals, prepayments and month-end support Maintain the Fixed Asset Register Prepare analysis and support wider finance tasks as needed Skills / experience we're looking for; AAT qualified (or equivalent experience) Strong Excel and accounting systems skillsStrong communicator with the ability to liaise effectively with customers and stakeholders Accurate, analytical and highly organised individual Able to work independently and as part of a team Comfortable working with data and IT systems Willing to study towards CIMA/ACCA (study support provided) Salary / benefits package; Salary 28,000 - 32,000 per annumHours - 37 per week - Monday to Thursday 08.30-5pm, 4.30pm finish FridayHolidays 25 days plus banks, option for additional leave Company pensionCycle to work schemeEmployee discountHealth & wellbeing programmeOn-site parkingFurther softer benefits What you need to do now To discuss the full job description and for a confidential conversation, call us directly on 01228 515795 If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
