Job Description Job Title:Community Climate OfficerLocation:CardiffSalary:33,000 p/annum & 3% PensionHours:Full Time (37 hours per week)Reporting to:Climate JusticeCymruProject ManagerHolidays:28 Days plus Bank HolidaysPurpose of Job:To deliver community-based climate action activities, engage and support participants, and ensure inclusive, high-quality delivery across project regions.Company DescriptionRace Equality First is an independent charity and race equality council based in Cardiff, Wales, committed to promoting equality and addressing discrimination. We provide free, confidential advice and support to victims of hate crime, harassment, and discrimination. Our work includes delivering training on equality and diversity, promoting anti-racism education, and facilitating initiatives to remove barriers for Black and ethnic minority communities. Through campaigns and community projects, we strive to create inclusive opportunities and challenge racial injustice. We also support organisations in implementing equal opportunities and anti-racist policies.Main DutiesCommunity EngagementEngage with communities across Wales, particularly Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.Build and maintain relationships with community organisations, faith groups and local partners.Promote participation in project activities.Delivery of ActivitiesDeliver climate education workshops, community sessions and engagement activities.Support the delivery of growing projects, repair/reuse sessions and nature-based activities.Work alongside delivery partners to ensure activities are well coordinated.Climate Champions ProgrammeSupport recruitment of Climate Champions from local communities.Provide ongoing support, coordination and guidance to Champions.Assist Champions to plan and deliver their community sessions.Co-design & InclusionFacilitate community input into the design of activities.Ensure delivery is culturally relevant, accessible and responsive to community needs.Identify barriers to participation and implement solutions.Monitoring & ReportingCollect participant data, feedback and case studies.Contribute to monitoring and evaluation processes.Maintain accurate records of activities and outputs.Practical CoordinationOrganise venues, materials and logistics for activities.Work flexibly across different locations (including regular travel).Support events, workshops and community sessions.Person SpecificationEssentialExperience of working directly with communities and delivering engagement activities.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to engage and build trust with diverse communities.Organised and able to manage multiple activities.Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.Ability to travel regularly across Wales.DesirableExperience delivering workshops or training sessions.Knowledge of climate change, sustainability or community development.Experience working with volunteers or community leaders.Ability to speak a community language.How to ApplyTo apply, please submit the following [email protected]:A CVA supporting statement outlining how you meet the person specification (maximum1page)Deadline:12pm on Tuesday 5thMay 2026 - for all rolesStart date:As soon as possibleFor an informal conversation about the role, please contact us on 02920 486207 or [email protected]
