Job Description Site Manager Recycling & BiomassSalary: From 50,000 per yearPermanent | Full-TimeOur client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Site Manager to take full operational responsibility for a busy recycling and biomass facility.This is a key leadership role overseeing the safe, compliant, and commercially efficient operation of a high-volume site running 67 days per week with a team of up to 15 staff.If youre a strong operational leader with experience in recycling, waste, biomass or aggregates, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.The RoleAs Site Manager, you will be accountable for all day-to-day site activities, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of health & safety and environmental compliance.You will lead from the front managing heavy plant operations, supervising staff, overseeing weighbridge activities, and driving continuous improvement across the site.Key ResponsibilitiesSite OperationsTake full responsibility for safe, efficient daily site operationsOversee wood recycling, biomass processing, aggregates, and green waste activitiesPlan workloads to meet throughput and production targetsManage heavy plant operations (shredders, loaders, excavators, crushers, etc.)Maintain excellent housekeeping, traffic management, and material flowPeople ManagementLead, motivate, and manage a team of up to 15 employeesManage rotas to support a 67 day operationConduct inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing trainingDrive a strong safety culture and positive team environmentHealth, Safety & ComplianceEnsure full compliance with Health & Safety legislationMaintain Environmental Permit and Waste Management complianceConduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigationsLiaise with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholdersWeighbridge & AdministrationOversee accurate recording of inbound/outbound materialsEnsure all waste documentation and duty of care requirements are metMonitor KPIs including tonnage, downtime, and site performanceReport performance and improvement plans to senior managementCommercial & Continuous ImprovementControl site costs and improve operational efficiencyIdentify opportunities to increase recovery and reduce wasteSupport the ongoing growth and development of the siteWhat Were Looking ForEssential:Proven experience managing a recycling, waste, biomass, or aggregates siteStrong knowledge of Health & Safety and environmental complianceExperience leading teams and managing heavy plant operationsHands-on, confident decision-makerStrong IT and administrative skillsDesirable:WAMITAB qualification (or working towards)Experience in wood recycling, biomass, or green wasteWeighbridge management experienceWhy Apply?Competitive salary from 50,000 per yearFull operational control and leadership responsibilityOpportunity to shape and grow a busy, high-volume sitePermanent, stable position within a growing sectorIf youre ready to take ownership of a dynamic recycling operation and lead from the front, wed love to hear from you.
