Job Description Job title: R&D Technologist Location: Cambridge Contract Length: 12 monthsWorking Hours: 37.5 hours/weekPay Rate: 15.83About the RoleWe are currently looking for a Technologist to join our clients Cell Expression Systems R&D team in Cambridge, to contribute to the execution of analytical activities for multiple projects.Core responsibilities include:Assist with sample analysis to generate data for decision making across multiple projects with other senior analytical scientistsPerform sample purification, product quantification and product quality analysis including but not limited to PrA HPLC, SEC, CE-SDS and icIEFSolution preparations including analytical buffers, media and feed where requiredMonthly mycoplasma testingGeneral lab housekeeping e.g. stock checks, instrument calibrations when requiredWork closely with multiple R&D teams to deliver solutions or improvements in recombinant protein manufacturingMaintain accurate and timely records to appropriate quality standardsActively keep aware of relevant academic literatureContribute ideas and opinions to aid the development of new methods and/or technologies85% lab-based role using experience and knowledgeKey requirements:Previous practical experience in an analytical laboratory with a focus on protein characterisation, with aseptic practical experienceKnowledge and practical expertise in chromatography and electrophoresis techniques (e.g. ProA HPLC, SEC, CE-SDS) in the field of protein characterizationKnowledge of affinity purification techniquesA good general background in established analytical methods in the industry, including the strengths and weaknesses of various approachesPrevious practical experience in an analytical laboratory with a focus on protein characterisationNice to have experience: Aseptic practical experienceSolution preparationAny equipment maintenance
