Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role: This is not your average design job. If you’re the kind of engineer who thrives on solving real-world problems, enjoys variety in your projects, and wants to see your designs go from concept to commissioning, this is your chance.You’ll be joining a collaborative and well-respected automation team based in Peterborough, working across some of the UK’s most forward-thinking industrial and manufacturing sites. Whether it’s designing complex control panels, integrating systems, or supporting safety compliance, you’ll be hands-on with cutting-edge work that makes a tangible difference to operations on-site.With over 20 engineers in the team (many of whom have progressed and grown with the business), you’ll find support, flexibility, and opportunities to keep learning while doing meaningful work from day one.Key Responsibilities:Generate panel layouts and bills of materialsCarry out LV distribution and cable calculationsDesign electrical control schematics, loop diagrams, and PLC wiring diagramsDevelop I/O schedules and instrument block diagramsSupport safety circuit design to BS EN ISO 13849/60261Prepare technical documentation and assist with project commissioningLiaise with site teams and lead on project commissioning and validationWork safely, sustainably, and in line with deadlines and complianceSkills & Experience:5+ years’ experience in electrical engineeringBackground in industrial automation or food/beverage manufacturing preferredStrong understanding of PLC wiring systems, instrumentation, and safety circuitsConfident using AutoCAD and ideally Amtech or equivalentFamiliar with industrial standards and experienced in control panel fault findingQualifications:NVQ3, BTEC or HNC in Electrical Engineering18th Edition certificationAwareness of SIL ratings and PL calculations is an advantage (training available if not)For more information, please contact Jamie at The ONE Group’s Engineering & Manufacturing Division byPhone: 01733 234000Mobile: 07399773939Email: Recruitment as it should be.
