Job Description Job title Freelance Health & Safety AdvisorLocation Camborne, Cornwall | On-siteSalary / rate 300 per day | Freelance contract Outside IR35 / CIS / self-employed options availableAbout the role Were looking for a hands-on Health & Safety Advisor to support a major internal refurbishment project within a live logistics environment in Camborne. This is a site-based freelance role working via a consultancy on a client-side project for a major global brand.Youll take the lead on day-to-day H&S across a fast-paced, multi-contractor refurbishment programme, helping site teams maintain compliance, drive safe behaviours, and keep works progressing in a live operational setting. This role will suit someone confident on site, strong on CDM, and comfortable influencing everyone from operatives and subcontractors through to senior stakeholders.Key responsibilitiesLead health and safety activity on a live refurbishment project involving multiple contractorsCarry out site inspections, audits, and compliance checks, then report findings and drive close-out actionsReview and support RAMS, risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of workDeliver toolbox talks, site briefings, and behavioural safety engagement sessionsSupport site leadership with practical H&S advice and visible on-site presenceLiaise with contractors, consultancy teams, and client-side stakeholders to maintain standardsInvestigate incidents and near misses, then implement corrective and preventative actionsMaintain accurate site documentation, trackers, reports, and compliance evidence using digital systemsRequirementsProven experience in a construction or refurbishment-focused Health & Safety roleAround 7+ years CDM-related experienceNEBOSH qualified, with General Certificate minimumStrong working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015Confident reviewing RAMS, risk assessments, method statements, and site compliance documentationStrong IT skills, including reporting, trackers, MS Office, and digital H&S systemsAble to influence, coach, and challenge at all levels on siteComfortable operating in a fast-moving, high-compliance, multi-contractor environmentDesirable / nice-to-have backgroundExperience on client-side projects or within consultancy-led delivery teamsExperience in live sites such as logistics, warehouse, industrial, manufacturing, distribution, retail, or other operational environmentsBackground in internal refurbishment, fit-out, brownfield works, or phased construction in occupied buildingsIOSH membership or higher-level H&S credentials would be useful but are not essential if site experience is strongAbout the employer / environment Youll be joining a consultancy team supporting a major client-side refurbishment for a well-known global brand.
