Main duties of the job The role consists of a mix of face to face and telephone consultations, although we are keen to embrace the advantages of new ways of working that we continue to develop.Therota is arranged so that one GP is on call each morning and afternoon and is able to provide same day support to the wider clinical team. A second GP is primarily responsible for visits each morning. Remaining GPs have routine sessions made up of telephone or face to face consultations. Patients are given a choice of selecting face to face or telephone at the time that they book their appointment.Sessions have some appointments reserved for GP led follow up appointments to support continuity of care.About us Although we are a large team of over 100 staff working across 3 sites, the Partners believe it is important to maintain a supportive team ethos.All clinicians are supported to develop personal interests and as a result we have excellent links with the RCGP, academia, local practice networks and the ICB. We are an advanced training practice taking trainees, medical students and international scholars. Together we bring our experiences from outside the practice to innovate and push the standards of care we provide higher.We have a fortnightly meeting slot and meetings includes safeguarding, palliative care, significant events and our Journal Club at which clinicians discuss patient concerns, share new learning or discuss new guidance. We also have a meeting for Salaried GPs approximately every 6-8 weeks – this meeting is with one of the Partners, the Business Manager and the Clinical Services Manager and allows time to discuss proposals made by the Partners, share ideas and raise any queries.Key financial benefitsReimbursement of indemnity costs related to the sessions worked at the practice6 weeks of annual leave, 2 weeks of additional leave to cover bank holidays, 2 weeks of study leave, 1 week of training leave. All pro rata.Job responsibilities Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe duties of the post holder are to provide a full range of general medical services which will include domiciliary visits as deemed appropriate. You will also be encouraged to utilise and develop any skills for the improvement of services to patients, such as minor operations, child health surveillance, family planning, training etc and the Partnership encourages active engagement in developing and delivering new services. This will be subject to presentation of the appropriate certificates and update of relevant courses.Clinical DutiesA Salaried GP session is defined as 4 hours 10 min. On average this session will include 2.5-3 hours of patient facing clinical time and will match the clinical sessions of partners. Appointments are scheduled at 10-15 minute intervals.Whilst the patients are able to see any GP of their choice, the Practice uses the named GP to encourage continuity of care, and as a way to maintain an equitable administrative workload. Named GP numbers are in proportion to the number of weekly sessions worked and you will be the named GP for a patient list that will be allocated to you.The Partners believe that the job plan allows sufficient time to complete all administrative duties related to your clinical work, recognising the fact that all practitioners work at different rates. This will include some reports. Should a Salaried GP need to complete a report outside your usual working hours you will be paid the report fee in addition to your salary.Group and Continual Professional DevelopmentWe value continual professional development and professionalism and to that end we will allow time for peer support.
