The Role This is a hands-on operational + people leadership role focused on: Managing HR operations end-to-end Driving compliance and structure Leading people performance and culture Managing a remote HR support team Supporting leadership with clear HR directionThis role requires ownership, accountability, and strong execution. Role Purpose To manage all HR operations in the UK, enforce structure, manage people, and ensure full execution of HR policies and compliance standards across Proactive Group. Core Responsibilities HR Operations Management (Primary Control) Own and manage all day-to-day HR activities in the UK Maintain employee records, contracts, and HR systems (e.g. BrightHR / Citation) Ensure all staff files are complete, accurate, and up to date Maintain structured, organised HR operations Compliance Implementation Execute compliance frameworks set by the business Oversee right-to-work checks and documentation tracking Maintain 100% audit-ready HR files at all times Conduct regular compliance checks and support audits Employee Relations & Discipline Manage absences, conduct issues, and grievances Lead disciplinary and performance management processes Enforce company policies and standards Maintain a professional and consistent workplace culture Recruitment & Hiring (Final Authority) Manage end-to-end UK recruitment Conduct interviews and lead candidate selection Ensure high-quality hires within required timelines Work with internal support teams to streamline sourcing and screening Onboarding & Offboarding Ensure all new hires are fully onboarded with contracts and documentation Manage exit processes professionally and efficiently Maintain a smooth and structured employee lifecycle Performance Management & Appraisals Implement KPI frameworks across departments Conduct monthly performance reviews and appraisals Identify and address underperformance Support bonus, retention, and development initiatives Management & Leadership Support Act as HR lead for UK operations Support CEO, senior leadership, and department heads Attend leadership meetings and provide HR insights Drive accountability and consistency across teams Remote Team Management Manage and coordinate a remote HR support team Delegate administrative and support tasks effectively Ensure alignment, productivity, and quality of output Maintain clear communication and structured workflows Reporting & Accountability Produce weekly HR reports Track staffing issues, compliance status, and recruitment progress Escalate risks and critical issues promptly Use data to support decision-making What Were Looking For Essential: Proven experience as an HR Manager or HR Operations Manager in the UK Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices Experience managing HR operations and people performance Confident managing multiple stakeholders and teams Highly organised, proactive, and accountable Desirable: Experience in facilities management, construction, or service industries Experience managing remote or distributed teams Familiarity with BrightHR, Citation, or similar HR systems What Youll Get Opportunity to lead and shape HR within a growing business Direct influence on leadership decisions and company culture A role with real ownership and impact Career progression as the company scales Our Culture We are building a business that is: Accountable Structured Performance-driven Continuously improvingWe are looking for someone who will raise standards, drive consistency, and take full ownership of HR .
