Location: Edinburgh Salary: Up to 70,000 + 7,500 Welcome Bonus Security Clearance: Must be eligible for BPSS (SC desirable) Type: Permanent | Full-TimeThe OpportunityAn established and growing advanced engineering organisation is seeking a Senior Test Development Engineer to support the design and development of complex electronic test solutions.This is a key senior role within a high-growth R&D environment, offering strong technical ownership, leadership responsibility, and genuine progression opportunities.You will be working on advanced electronic systems supporting mission-critical applications across land, sea, air, and space platforms.The RoleYou will take ownership of the design, development, validation and lifecycle support of test equipment at board, subsystem and system level.Key responsibilities include:Design and development of functional test equipment for electronic systemsHardware and software integration, debug and fault findingVerification and validation of test solutionsProduction support, issue resolution and obsolescence managementLeading technical design reviews and producing high-quality documentationMentoring and supporting junior engineersDriving robust, scalable and maintainable test architecturesEssential Skills & ExperienceStrong analogue and digital electronic circuit design knowledgeProven experience developing test equipment in an engineering environmentTest software development experienceExcellent hardware troubleshooting skillsExperience supporting system integration xjdpvnf and debugExperience handing designs into productionAbility to produce clear, structured technical documentationEligibility for UK Security Clearance (minimum BPSS)Desirable ExperienceSignificant industry experience in test developmentPXI / LXI test architecturesMentor Graphics schematic capture and PCB layoutMeasurement uncertainty and validation principlesNI LabVIEW, NI CVI, NI TestStand or C#Mixed signal designHigh-speed serial networksRF electronics awarenessPower supply design
