Director of Communications (6 months Fixed Term Contract)Based: EdinburghThe Scottish National Investment Bank is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Communications to lead the development and delivery of the Bank’s communications strategy.This is a high-impact leadership role within our Partnerships & Engagement function, responsible for shaping how we communicate our purpose, missions and investment activity to a wide range of stakeholders - from government and industry partners to investees and the wider public.You will play a pivotal role in building awareness, understanding and reputation, ensuring the Bank’s voice is clear, consistent and compelling across all channels.About the RoleAs Director of Communications, you will design and deliver an integrated communications strategy that brings the Bank’s story to life and supports the delivery of our missions to drive sustainable and inclusive growth across Scotland.Operating in a complex and high-profile environment, you will lead external and internal communications, manage media engagement, oversee events strategy, and ensure alignment with marketing activity.You will work closely with senior stakeholders, including the Executive and Board, and lead a small team to deliver high-quality, impactful communications.Key ResponsibilitiesCommunications Strategy & Delivery - Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy to build awareness and understanding across key audiencesContent & Storytelling - Develop compelling content across multiple channels, including editorial, digital, video and insight piecesEvents & Engagement - Design and deliver an external events strategy, including a flagship annual conference and a programme of stakeholder eventsMedia & PR Management - Lead proactive and reactive media engagement, including investment announcements and strategic communications activityMessaging & Brand Alignment - Develop and maintain core messaging, ensuring consistency with tone of voice and brand guidelines across the BankInternal Communications - Create and deliver an engaging internal communications plan to support alignment and engagement across teamsStakeholder Management - Build strong relationships with Scottish Government, media, partners and key external stakeholdersDigital & Channels Oversight - Oversee the Bank’s website and social channels to maximise reach and impactAgency Management - Manage external PR and digital agencies to deliver high-quality outputsLeadership & Collaboration - Lead and develop a team of 3, while collaborating across the organisation to identify and deliver communications opportunitiesAbout YouYou will be a senior communications professional with a demonstrable track record of delivering impactful strategies in complex organisations.You will bring:Significant experience in a senior communications roleProven ability to develop and execute communication strategies that deliver measurable outcomesExperience working across a full range of channels, including media, digital and internal communicationsSound understanding of how marketing and communications combine to enhance reach and reputationExperience operating in complex stakeholder environmentsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProven Organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver at paceA proactive, energetic and solutions-focused approachExperience in financial services or the public sector would be advantageous, but not essentialWhat We OfferAt the Scottish National Investment Bank, we offer a supportive culture that values your expertise and autonomy, encourages continuous learning, and provides opportunities for meaningful work.
