Job Description Product Design LeadA leading UK engineering organisation working on complex defence technology is looking for a Product Design Lead to take ownership of a key command and control product.This is a role at the centre of system capability. The product you will be responsible for acts as the decision-making layer within a wider platform, analysing threats and coordinating responses in fast-changing environments. With new international programmes now underway, the team is expanding to support the next phase of development.You will lead a small design team responsible for both software and hardware development, working closely with systems engineers, programme teams and wider stakeholders to deliver new capability across multiple programmes.What you'll be doingLeading a small engineering team delivering new software design for equipment systemsSupporting the development of hardware build standardsWorking across the wider weapon system design environment to align technical solutionsTracking design progress against programme milestonesManaging engineering changes and implementation of new design releasesWhat theyre looking forThis role would suit someone with experience delivering product or systems design within a complex engineering environment.You will likely bring:Experience working across the software development lifecycleA track record of translating system requirements into detailed design outputsThe ability to lead and coordinate small technical teamsStrong problem-solving skills and confidence resolving design challengesExperience working with engineering tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody or similarA degree in a STEM subject or equivalent industry experiencePackage highlightsBonus of up to 2,500 depending on company performancePension contributions up to 14 percent combinedPaid overtime availableUp to 15 additional flexi leave daysHealthcare cash plan and strong parental leave policiesDue to the nature of the work, applicants will need to be British citizens or dual UK nationals with British citizenship and will be required to complete BPSS clearance.
