Role: Manufacturing Cost Engineer Location: Filton 60% onsite Type: Contract ntil 31/10/2026 (with potential extension) Hours: 35 per week (4.5 days with early finish on Fridays) Rate: 35.00 p/h Umbrella | 26.16 p/h PAYE + holiday pay Overview Morson is currently recruiting a Manufacturing Cost Engineer on behalf of our aerospace client in Filton. This is an excellent opportunity to join the Manufacturing Cost Engineering team, supporting current and future aircraft programmes to deliver cost-efficient manufacturing solutions. The role plays a key part in ensuring competitive cost targets are met across programmes and supplier agreements, providing independent, data-driven cost insight and supporting strategic and operational decision-making. Cost Engineering acts as a neutral authority on manufacturing costs, supporting programme decisions, supplier negotiations and continuous improvement across recurring (RC) and non-recurring (NRC) cost performance. Key Responsibilities Produce reliable RC and NRC cost estimates for Design-to-Cost and improvement projects, with scope to support additional aircraft programmes as required. Use digital costing tools and models to create consistent and robust cost estimates aligned with current standards and methodologies. Support cost modelling activities, with particular focus on composite manufacturing processes. Contribute to Design-to-Cost initiatives from early concept through to entry into service, ensuring recurring cost savings are achieved and sustained. Analyse work package cost data, identify value-improvement opportunities, and present findings to Programme and Engineering stakeholders. Support Manufacturing and Engineering functions by assessing RC and NRC cost impacts of product or industrial changes. Represent Cost Engineering in supplier discussions, providing objective cost assessments to support negotiations. Participate in Design-to-Cost workshops and provide guidance on cost-effective solutions. Ensure accuracy, impartiality, quality and integrity throughout the costing process. Skills & Experience Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Manufacturing or a relevant technical field. Experience within a manufacturing and/or engineering environment. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, ideally including: Composite, metallic and machined components Fabrication and assembly operations Awareness of non-recurring cost impacts related to product and industrialisation changes. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, able to simplify complex topics and conduct root-cause analysis. Effective communication and stakeholder-influencing skills at all levels. Collaborative and proactive mindset with strong team working skills. Demonstrates integrity, compliance awareness and a commitment to high ethical standards. TPBN1_UKTJ
