Were looking for a Buyer to oversee the procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract servicesensuring the smooth and cost-effective delivery of goods and services to project sites. The Role As a Buyer , youll work closely with project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality purchasing solutions that support operational success . Youll take ownership of sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships while promoting sustainable procurement practices across the business. Key Responsibilities Source and procure construction materials, plant hire, and subcontractor services in line with project budgets and timelines. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure best value and reliability. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery conditions to achieve commercial objectives. Prepare and process purchase orders using internal procurement systems (e.g. COINS, Causeway). Collaborate daily with project managers, site managers, estimators, and contract managers. Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and contract compliance. Stay informed on market trends, pricing changes, and new product innovations. Support sustainability and social value initiatives through responsible sourcing. Ensure full compliance with internal procurement policies and external frameworks. About You CIPS qualified or currently working towards certification. Proven experience in a buying or procurement role . Strong understanding of construction or property maintenance sector desirable but not essential . Experience using procurement software (e.g. COINS, Causeway, or similar). Knowledge of public sector frameworks is desirable. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
