Job DescriptionDirector of Landscape PlanningThe company is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Landscape Planning to lead and grow their environmental consultancy team. This senior leadership role focuses on delivering innovative and sustainable landscape planning solutions across the UK.About the Role:As Director of Landscape Planning, the successful candidate will oversee major project workstreams including landscape appraisals, Landscape and Townscape Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA/TVIA), as well as greenbelt and greybelt evaluations. Their expertise will guide the integration of landscape principles into large-scale developments, ensuring sustainability and regulatory compliance.The role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, including legal professionals involved in planning appeals and public inquiries. The Directors leadership will be critical in maintaining high standards of delivery and fostering a culture of professional excellence and innovation.Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage complex landscape planning projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and client satisfactionDevelop and implement strategic landscape assessments and mitigation plans aligned with sustainable development objectivesProvide expert advice on landscape and visual impact issues across various sectors, including residential and energy developmentsCollaborate with legal teams on planning appeals and inquiries, offering expert witness testimony when requiredMentor and guide junior and senior team members, supporting their professional growth and developmentBuild and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutionsOversee technical report production, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with industry standardsContribute to business growth through new client development and strategic initiativesSkills and Experience:Holds a degree or postgraduate qualification in Landscape Architecture or a closely related fieldChartered membership of the Landscape Institute or equivalent professional accreditationExtensive experience in landscape planning and visual impact assessment, including LVIA, feasibility studies, and landscape design strategiesProven track record managing projects within the residential and energy sectorsExceptional report writing and technical communication skillsStrong leadership and project management capabilities, with a proactive, strategic mindsetAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative teamCommercial awareness and an understanding of business drivers in consultancy services
