Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading specialist engineering and construction company renowned for delivering complex, multi-disciplinary projects across the energy, utilities, nuclear, and industrial sectors. As a key delivery partner on one of the UKs most significant infrastructure projects, Hinkley Point C, the company is looking to strengthen its commercial team. This role offers a unique chance to be part of a high-profile nuclear power station project, where you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of mechanical, electrical, and multi-disciplinary engineering packages within a fast-paced, technically challenging environment. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will: Lead the commercial management of allocated work packages within the HPC project. Prepare, review, and manage sub-contracts and supply chain agreements in line with NEC contracts. Monitor and control project costs, valuations, and variations, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting. Interface with the project delivery team, client (EDF), and supply chain to resolve commercial issues. Ensure timely and accurate submission of applications for payment, cost reports, and final accounts. Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering possibilities throughout the project lifecycle. Support and mentor junior members of the commercial team. Ensure compliance with project governance and the internal procedures. Represent the contractor at commercial and project meetings as required. Our client requires a Quantity Surveyor with: Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline. Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a similar Senior QS role, ideally within large infrastructure or M&E projects. Strong understanding of NEC contracts, particularly NEC3/4 Options A & C. Proven experience working on major infrastructure or nuclear projects. Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. Strong IT proficiency, particularly in MS Excel and cost management systems. Eligibility to work in the UK and able to meet security clearance requirements. Member of RICS, CIOB, or similar professional body. Familiarity with CEMAR, SAP, or similar contract and cost management tools.
