Strategic Staffing Solutions International's client is a global fintech company specializing in bank payment solutions. They are currently seeking a Senior Manager, Credit Underwriting.This position sits within the Merchant Operations Group, which manages key business processes like KYC, onboarding, customer support, payments, and billing. The team ensures these run efficiently to support company growth and operational effectiveness, always with a focus on high service standards for both internal and external customers.What You’ll DoYou’ll lead a small team of credit risk underwriters, driving sound credit evaluations and proactive risk management. This is a hands-on leadership role during a time of change—ideal for someone who thrives with autonomy and can guide a team through uncertainty.Key ResponsibilitiesLead credit reviews and onboarding for high-risk customers; advise on risk-adjusted pricing.Review complex credit decisions and make or escalate final calls.Manage risk for existing customers (e.g. limit increases, new product access).Monitor customer portfolios and adjust limits or mitigation tools as needed.Act on risk alerts quickly to prevent or reduce losses.Join executive-level deal reviews when required.LeadershipBuild and lead a high-performing underwriting team through change.Set goals, monitor performance, and provide coaching and mentorship.Cross-train the team to ensure resilience and reduce risk of knowledge gaps.Foster a culture of accountability and strong decision-making.Operational ExcellenceDefine a vision for performance and drive improvements against KPIs.Collaborate with Product and Engineering to shape tools and prioritize features.Improve processes, implement SOPs, and drive scalable operations.Maintain controls for audits and develop QA frameworks to ensure quality.What You BringExperience leading credit underwriting in a B2B setting.Strong understanding of payment risk (e.g. chargebacks, exposure).Skilled in financial analysis, risk modeling, and using data/BI tools.Ability to balance risk with commercial goals and influence stakeholders.Excellent problem-solving and team-building capabilities.Company offersCompetitive salary – range from 62.5-75 GPB/hourlyImpactful role in a high-growth global fintechCareer development and learning opportunitiesHybrid working modelCollaborative and inclusive culture
