Start date: AsapContract duration: 1 year contract – possible extension after Location: Bracknell, fully on-sitePAYE rate: £13.19 per hour Duties:The purpose of the Research Associate is to support Weed Control Research Biology on the SPS (Secondary Profiling Screen) platform by spraying and maintaining, plants in the glasshouse in order to deliver timely, quality data to herbicide research projectsThe job holder will work in the Trialling Operations team within Technical Support - Weed Control and will be required to spray and maintain herbicide bioassays in the glasshouse, using established and novel weed screening methods producing biology data to enable project decisions.Please see below an outline of the position:Work independently and as part of a team while carrying out experimental work using established and novel screening methodsMaintain plants under glasshouse conditions for the duration of the test.Be accountable for work being done with precision, accuracy and efficiencyPerform all activities in accordance with the Syngenta Health, Safety, and Environmental PolicyWork efficiently in high-throughput team environmentIdentify issues, non-conformities and report themAccurately keep records and databases currentCan be involved in training of daily tasksGood work ethic and works consistently in performing roleProactive in identifying problems and assists in solving themShows initiative to improve WOWs of the screening platformSkills:General knowledge of plant biology; ideally also with knowledge of weed control and some agronomy.Entry level knowledge of laboratory techniquesUse of Microsoft office programsGood analytical, organizational, and people skills.Be detailed oriented and a good communicatorBe flexibleAgility in learning new tasks, self-starter and team playerGood self-motivating, self-managing and time management skill setsEducation:BSc Degree or A levels plus experience in a related field preferred
