Job Description Laboratory TechnicianLocation: BracknellRate: 13.62 per hourWorking Arrangement: Fully on-siteOpportunities Available: 2 positionsStart Date: ASAPContract Length: 12 MonthsRole PurposeTo support daily laboratory operations within a multidisciplinary scientific research environment by providing essential laboratory services. This includes ensuring the availability of clean and sterilised glassware, maintaining stock levels of consumables, and managing the efficient receipt and distribution of laboratory deliveries.Key ResponsibilitiesGlassware & SterilisationWash, clean, and prepare laboratory glassware to required standardsOperate autoclaves to sterilise glassware and laboratory utensilsOrganise and store clean glassware for easy access by laboratory staffConsumables & InventoryMaintain adequate stock levels of laboratory consumablesConduct regular inventory checks and identify replenishment needsDeliveries & LogisticsReceive, log, and process incoming laboratory parcels and deliveriesDistribute items to appropriate laboratory areasHandle temperature-sensitive or hazardous materials in line with safety protocolsTechnical Skills & Personal CapabilitiesAbility to safely operate autoclaves and laboratory washing equipmentUnderstanding of sterilisation proceduresCompetent with computer systems, including MS OfficeAble to carry out routine tasks accurately and follow defined proceduresStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectivelySelfmotivated with the ability to work independently and within a teamFlexible and adaptable to changing business or customer needsEffective communication skillsStrong attention to detail and recordkeeping abilitiesEducation & ExperienceEducated to at least Alevel standard (or equivalent) in Biology or ChemistryGood working knowledge of laboratory operations and safety practicesExperience with autoclaves or sterilisation equipment desirable (training provided)Stock management or inventory control experience desirable (training provided)
