Position: Chief Finance Officer Location:Bovey Tracey, Devon, TQ13 9JD Start Date:ASAP Contract Duration:6+ Months Working Hours:37 hours per week (09 00) Pay Rate:£ 420.00 Per Day Job Reference:(phone number removed)Job ResponsibilitiesAct as thestatutory Section 151 Officer , ensuring the authority s financial management complies with legal and regulatory requirements.Providestrategic financial leadershipand advice to senior management and elected members.Lead the preparation, management, and monitoring of the organisation sbudget, financial planning, and financial strategy .Ensure strongfinancial governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks .Oversee financial reporting, statutory accounts preparation, and compliance with public sector accounting standards.Provide expert financial advice to supportpolicy decisions, service delivery, and organisational strategy .Manage and develop thefinance team , ensuring effective financial operations and reporting.Work closely with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure transparency and accountability.Person SpecificationMust-HaveFully qualified accountant ( CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent ).Significant senior-levelpublic sector finance leadership experience .Experience performing the role ofSection 151 Officeror Deputy S151 in a local authority or public sector organisation.Strong knowledge oflocal government finance regulations and governance frameworks .Experience managingbudgets, financial strategy, and statutory reporting .Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Ability to provide strategic financial advice to senior leadership and governing bodies.Right to work in the UK .Nice-to-HavePrevious experience working within anational park authority or environmental/public sector organisation .Experience managingorganisational transformation or financial improvement programmes .Experience working closely withelected members or boards .DISCLAIMER : By applying for this vacancy, you consent to your personal information being shared with our client and any relevant third parties we engage with, for the purpose of assessing your suitability for the role.
