Head of Partnerships & Operations - Running and Endurance SportsOverviewOrganised running is changing.Race organisers are under pressure from rising costs, regulation, volunteer fatigue, and shifting runner expectations. At the same time, runners increasingly want flexibility, legitimacy, and meaningful ways to participate that fit around modern life.Skamper Anytime sits at the centre of this change.It enables credible, organiser-led racing beyond race day — extending successful events, preserving those under threat, and creating a new category that sits between traditional racing and informal challenges.The Head of Anytime Racing is a founding role to help make that future real.The opportunityThis is not a conventional senior role in an established business.It is:A chance to help define an entirely new part of the running ecosystemA role with real autonomy and influenceAn opportunity to work directly with organisers, runners, and routesA position that is likely to start part-time and grow with the success of the conceptWe are looking for someone who is excited by building something new, not maintaining something old.The role The Head of Anytime Racing will:Be the public-facing champion of Anytime racing with organisersHelp organisers imagine how Anytime could work for their eventsTranslate the concept into credible, practical implementationsWork hands-on with routes, courses, and formatsSupport runners and organisers through early deliveryHelp shape what this category becomesThis is a hybrid role: part commercial, part operational, part evangelist.Key responsibilities1. Working with race organisersIdentify and engage race organisers who could benefit from AnytimeExplain the concept clearly and honestlyHelp organisers decide whether Anytime is an extension or a replacementCo-design Anytime formats that respect the integrity of their eventsBuild long-term, trust-based relationships in the sector2. Course and format developmentWork with Skamper’s route planning experts to design Anytime coursesHelp ensure courses reflect the character and difficulty of the original eventsUnderstand and explain route equivalence, grading, and safety considerationsSense-check routes from a runner’s perspectiveYou do not need to be a GIS technician — but you do need to care deeply about good routes.3. Product understanding and advocacyDevelop a deep understanding of the Skamper app and grading systemExplain the app clearly to organisers and runnersFeed back real-world insights to the product teamHelp shape how Anytime racing is presented in the app4. Supporting runners and organisersAnswer early-stage organiser and runner queriesHelp manage expectations around Anytime formatsAct as a human bridge between technology and lived experienceEnsure the tone remains collaborative, credible, and respectful5. Demonstration events and thought leadershipHelp design and, where appropriate, organise Skamper-led Anytime eventsUse these events to demonstrate best practiceRepresent Skamper in conversations, panels, and sector discussionsHelp articulate the long-term vision for Anytime racingWho this role is forWe are looking for someone who:Is deeply embedded in the running or endurance events sectorIs trusted by organisers, runners, or bothUnderstands the realities of race organisationCares about legitimacy, safety, and fairnessIs comfortable operating without a rigid playbookYou might have worked as:A race director or former race directorA senior figure in an events companyA well-connected organiser, consultant, or coachSomeone already straddling commercial and community rolesMindset and valuesThis role requires someone who:Is a believer in the idea that racing can evolve without being dilutedIs willing to take measured personal risk in exchange for influence and meaningEnjoys building trust more than closing dealsIs comfortable starting part-time and growing into the roleSees long-term value in shaping a new categoryWhat success looks likeIn the first 6–12 months:A small number of high-quality Anytime partnerships launchedStrong organiser advocacy and word-of-mouthClear patterns emerging around what works and what doesn’tSkamper recognised as a credible partner in Anytime racingIn the longer term:The Head of Anytime Racing becomes a central figure in the categoryThe role grows in scope, security, and influenceAnytime racing becomes a normal, respected part of the running landscapeConverting some of the established ‘virtual race’ events to the concept of Anytime RacingDeveloping an International plan once established in the UKWhat we offerA founding role in a genuinely new conceptReal influence over direction and executionFlexibility around time commitment and structureThe chance to help create something that could bring joy to millions — in the way parkrun didThe opportunity to share in the success that Anytime Races will bring to SkamperThis is a role for someone who wants to look back and say:“I helped build that.”
