Job Description: Cook / ChefWe are recruiting a skilled and passionate Cook / Chef for a well-established care home in the UK. Your key responsibilities will include: Menu & Food Preparation: Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious, balanced, and appetising meals for our residents.Develop seasonal menus that cater to various dietary requirements, including soft diets, pureed diets, diabetic, and other clinical needs.Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards of hygiene and safety, adhering to HACCP guidelines.Monitor and manage kitchen stock, placing orders with suppliers and ensuring effective stock rotation.Service & Resident Experience: Plate meals attractively, understanding that presentation is key to appetite and enjoyment.Liaise with care staff to be aware of residents' changing needs, preferences, and allergies.Engage with residents for feedback on menus, fostering a person-centered approach to meal provision.Support mealtimes by ensuring meals are served at the correct temperature and in a timely manner.Kitchen Management: Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment at all times.Lead and guide kitchen assistants, fostering a collaborative and efficient team.Manage kitchen budgets and minimise food waste.Ensure full compliance with all Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations.What Were Looking For: A passionate and creative individual with a genuine desire to work in a care setting.Proven experience as a Cook or Chef, preferably within a care home, hotel, or restaurant setting.Excellent knowledge of food hygiene practices and holds a valid Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to train).Ability to cater for special dietary needs and understand the importance of nutrition for the elderly.Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.A flexible, reliable, and organised approach, with the ability to manage a busy kitchen.Ready to create meals that make a difference?
