Head of Business Systems£70,000 + Car Allowance + Excellent BenefitsBirmingham HQ (National Travel / Some Hybrid Working)Full-Time, PermanentWe’re recruiting on behalf of a leading multi-site organisation in the engineering and technical services sector for a strategic, systems-focused leader to step into a high-impact Head of Business Systems role.This isn’t about IT infrastructure, it’s about making systems work smarter for the business. You’ll be the bridge between operations, technology, and leadership, driving improvements that touch every function, from engineering to finance, procurement to payroll.To succeed, you’ll need a deep understanding of business systems, a naturally collaborative style, and the confidence to engage stakeholders at every level—from boardroom to field teams.The Role:Take full ownership of the business systems function, acting as the central point for all change, development, and improvement initiatives.Shape and manage the systems roadmap, aligning technology with operational and commercial goals across a multi-entity, multi-location group.Build strong, proactive relationships with senior stakeholders and frontline users alike, ensuring business needs are clearly understood and translated into practical solutions.Oversee and support the integration and optimisation of core systems including Sage 200 and JobLogic, ensuring data flows smoothly between teams and platforms.Lead a small, well-established internal team and manage supplier relationships where needed.Champion the role of systems in driving efficiency, consistency, automation, and better decision making.Guide departments in identifying gaps, improving processes, and leveraging systems for greater visibility and control.Present updates, proposals, and business cases to leadership, demonstrating ROI and commercial impact.You’ll Need:Strong stakeholder relationship skills, able to build trust and communicate effectively across all levels of the business, from MDs to operational teams.A solid technical grounding in business systems, even if you’re not hands-on, you must understand how platforms integrate, how data flows, and how systems underpin operations.Demonstrable experience leading systems improvement, software rollout, or digital transformation initiatives.Familiarity with field service, manufacturing, or similar operational environments.Experience with systems such as Sage 200, JobLogic, or equivalent ERP/CRM/MIS platforms.A track record of delivering tangible value through process automation, reporting improvements, or system integration.Desirable Skills & Tools:Platforms: Sage 200, JobLogic, ERP/CRM/MIS toolsTech: SQL, SSRS, Power BI, API integrationsDisciplines: Change management, agile delivery, workflow automationExperience: System supplier evaluation, cross-functional project delivery, stakeholder engagementKnowledge of: Procurement, finance, payroll, and field based operationsThis Role Is For You If You:Enjoy leading systems-led change from within the business—not from the sidelines.Have the credibility and communication skills to influence senior leadership and engage local teams with equal effectiveness.Can balance strategic thinking with the detail required to deliver real operational improvements.Want to work in a role where systems, people, and process all matter equally—and where you can make a lasting difference.Are Midlands based and willing to travel around the UK regularlyApply today via Steve Tomlinson at Pertemps, Birmingham (Hagley Road)
