An opportunity for an ambitious ecologist to join a growing team and deliver ecological expertise across regeneration, property, transport, and public sector projects. You’ll contribute to surveys, assessments, and reporting, while working closely with clients and colleagues across regional teams.Key ResponsibilitiesUndertake ecological surveys, desk studies, and assessments to a high standardPrepare and review technical reports including PEAs, EcIAs, BNG assessments, and BREEAM ecology reportsProvide clear, pragmatic ecological advice to clients and project teamsContribute to Environmental Statement (ES) chapters and the wider EIA processSupport fee proposals and commercial project deliveryMaintain up-to-date knowledge of UK ecological legislation and planning policyWhat You’ll BringDegree in ecology or a related discipline1+ years’ experience in ecological consultancy (or similar)Strong report writing and technical review skillsKnowledge of UK planning, conservation legislation, and protected species licensingIdeally hold at least one survey/handling licence for a protected speciesExperience of both linear infrastructure and property development projects desirableConfident communicator with the ability to work independentlyFull UK driving licence (or ability to travel for site work)Salary & BenefitsCirca £35,000 + annual salary reviews26 days holiday, rising to 31 with service, plus bank holidaysHybrid working arrangementsProfessional training, mentoring, and career development supportOpportunities to work on diverse, high-profile projectsClear pathways for rapid career progressionWhy Apply?Join a supportive and professional team with a strong reputationWork on a wide range of varied and exciting projectsBenefit from structured development and mentoring from industry expertsEnjoy flexible working and excellent long-term career prospectsWhen applying to any role through Cobalt, your CV will never be shared with a client without your prior consent.
