Legal Counsel£46,000 - £55,000 + 20% Flexible Benefits Fund | Birmingham, Hybrid | Permanent As Legal Counsel – Commercial, you will provide expert legal guidance on a wide range of matters including high-value construction contracts, procurement activity, utilities agreements, local authority matters, IP, corporate issues, funding agreements and technology contracts. You’ll advise stakeholders at all levels, support dispute resolution processes, and ensure that legal risks are effectively managed. Key ResponsibilitiesDraft and review complex commercial and contractual documentation with minimal supervisionProvide legal advice on procurement, construction, corporate, funding and commercial mattersSupport the resolution of contractual claims and disputes, including working with external legal teamsManage external legal support, including monitoring cost, scope and qualityPrepare reports, briefings, and recommendations for senior stakeholdersMaintain strong relationships across legal, commercial, procurement and government teamsPromote and embed Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in all work Essential SkillsetQualified Solicitor or Barrister (England & Wales)Strong experience in commercial, contract, procurement or construction lawExperience working on major projects, infrastructure, government, utilities or transport sectorsAbility to produce complex legal drafting independentlySkilled at influencing stakeholders and building strong working relationshipsConfident in managing external legal advisers and associated budgetsStrong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skillsAbility to balance multiple workstreams to tight deadlinesExperience of public sector procurement processes is highly desirable PackageSalary: £46,000–£55,000 (DOE)Birmingham – hybrid workingFlexible Benefits Fund: Additional 20% of base salary to spend as you choose (cash, pension, benefits)Flexible working optionsProfessional development opportunitiesInclusive and supportive working culture
