Job Summary The post holder will be responsible, together with other members of the department, for the provision of a high‑quality secondary and or tertiary gastroenterology service, complementing existing subspecialisation. The post plan will be agreed on appointment; the successful candidate is expected to undertake a mix of general gastroenterology, endoscopy, GI bleed on call and ward cover, and to provide specialist advice to both primary and secondary care professionals. A particular interest in IBD and nutrition is welcomed. The role includes contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate education and is expected to support research.ResponsibilitiesClinical responsibility for outpatient consultation and endoscopy lists.Support inpatient care shared on a 7‑day consultant‑of‑the‑week model.Participate in the GI bleed rota.Develop own subspecialty interests and improve own skills.Contribute to educational activities (undergraduate and postgraduate).Encourage and support research activities.QualificationsEntered on the GMC Register.Eligible for inclusion on the GMC specialist register in gastroenterology & general medicine or equivalent.Disclosure and Barring Service check completed.Current UK professional registration.Presence of a skilled worker sponsorship, where applicable.EEO Statement University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is committed to an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued and supported.
