Job Summary Alton Street Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a Salaried General Practitioner to join our friendly and supportive practice. We are a CQC outstanding rated, forward‑thinking practice, continually investing in our future. We are committed to delivering high‑quality care to our 11,700 registered patients. We are a training practice (with four GP trainers) that also provides medical cover to the local 32‑bed community hospital opposite, and an active member of the South and West Herefordshire Primary Care Network.ResponsibilitiesThe delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled populationThe provision of services commensurate with the GMS contractGeneric prescribing adhering to local and national guidanceEffective management of long‑term conditionsProcessing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasksOn a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor rolesMaintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidanceWork collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workloadAdhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit processContribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practiceAccept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOFAttend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as requiredContribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and trainingEnsure compliance with the appraisal processPrepare and complete the revalidation processCommit to self‑learning and instill an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice teamSupport the training of medical students from all clinical disciplinesSupport the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditureReview and always adhere to practice protocols and policiesEncourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvementProvide supervisory cover at the community hospital and the practice for specialty trainees.QualificationsQualified GPMRCGPVocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGPGeneral Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT) – or due to CCT by April 2026ExperienceExperience of working in a primary care environmentExperience of continued professional developmentExperience of QOF and clinical auditDisclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and, as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.UK Registration Applicants must have current UK professional registration.
