Job DescriptionPJA is looking for Drainage specialists to support the continuing success of our growing Water Team.We are a friendly team of specialist consultants working to deliver holistic water management solutions for our clients, working across all aspects of the water sector including, but not exclusive to, flood risk, surface water management, foul water management, water quality, water resources (efficiency/neutrality) and hydraulic modelling.We strive for good design in all that we do, aiming to challenge the status quo of the water sector to ensure that our proposals are sustainable and resilient in our ever-changing world. We offer opportunities to expand your existing technical knowledge across the wider water sector enabling holistic personal and professional development.The ideal candidate will have the following key characteristics at a suitable level for respective grade/position:A passion for green- blue infrastructure, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), nature based solutionsKnowledge of (or be able to learn) hydraulic design principles and hydrological processes and be able to apply these. Be able to (or learn to) actively promote sustainable drainage solutions within our work.Be able to interpret existing information, drawings and modelling data and scope surveys to facilitate the delivery of sustainable solutions.Knowledge and experience of applying policy and guidance, ideally including:NPPF and PPGSewers for Adoption 7th Edition, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Code of Adoption AgreementThe SuDS Manual (CIRIA C753) and National Standards for SuDSThe Water Industry Act, Flood & Water Management Act, Land Drainage Act etc.Knowledge and experience of software application, ideally including:Causeway FlowFEHAutoCAD GIS.Knowledge of designing and delivering preliminary/concept and detailed drainage solutions.Ability to consider multi-disciplinary implications to your work and work collaboratively internally and externally to achieve good designExperience working in collaboration with key stakeholders, typically comprising Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities, Local Communities, Canal & River Trust, Internal Drainage Boards etc.Understanding of the interdependencies of you work to other aspects of the water sector, in particular with regard to flood risk, water quality and water resources.Good report writing and communication skills.Strong organisational and time management skills.Have understanding of CDM regulations, including ability to prepare design risk assessments.Strong academic background in a relevant science discipline (e.g. a degree in Civil Engineering, or a relevant higher education qualification) and/or extensive experience in a similar position.Chartered status or working towards Chartered status (ICE/CIWEM) would be advantageousAs a member of the PJA team, you can expect:Potential to expand your existing technical knowledge across the wider water sector.A unique opportunity to shape and enhance our growing water team.An attractive and modern working environment with good accessibility by all modes of transportA wide range of challenging projects, across the whole project cycle.A diverse client portfolio.Ongoing support, training and mentoring from senior professionals within the business with a real commitment from senior management towards personal and professional development We also offer an attractive benefits package that includes:Competitive salary25 Days annual leave plus the ability to purchase additional daysFlexible working arrangementsOption to participate in the Company Share Ownership schemePrivate healthcareCycle to Work SchemeTechschemePayment of professional subscriptionMembership of our group pension schemeLife Assurance
