Job Description Job Title: Senior Design ManagerLocation: BirminghamEmployment Type: Full-time / PermanentSalary: Circa 90,000 plus basic packageWe are recruiting for a Senior Design Manager for a major project based in Birmingham. This role focuses strongly on civil, structural, substructure and superstructure design packages, with wider design responsibility developing as the project progresses.Role OverviewYou will take a leading role in managing and coordinating complex multi-disciplinary design delivery from RIBA Stage 3 through construction. Working closely with internal teams, consultants, and specialist subcontractors, youll ensure design information is fully coordinated, compliant, buildable, and aligned with programme, cost and project objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the management and delivery of design information in line with agreed programmes and deliverablesOversee and interrogate consultant outputs to ensure compliance with brief, standards and contractual requirementsDrive design development from pre-construction through construction stagesProduce and manage design programmes, scopes, responsibility matrices, appointments and deliverable schedulesChair and coordinate design workshops, technical reviews and stakeholder meetingsManage BIM, CDE and design management processes across the projectIdentify and manage design risk, interfaces, change control and value engineering opportunitiesSupport technical resolution of civil/structural and wider building design challengesEnsure timely approval and coordination of reviewable design dataRequirements8+ years experience in Design Management with a Tier 1 contractor (UK)Degree qualified in a construction-related disciplineChartered status (MCIOB, MICE or equivalent)Proven experience delivering mid-to-large scale complex projectsStrong technical background in civil/structural design (substructure and superstructure essential)Experience with faade systems and specialist subcontract design coordination advantageousStrong stakeholder management, coordination and programme leadership skillsAdditional InformationProject spans RIBA Stages 35 (Design & Construction)Exposure to specialist subcontractor design development and interface managementFlexible working arrangements considered where project allows
