Job Description OverviewMy client is currently seeking a Workshop Manager to lead and oversee a busy production and workshop environment. This role would suit an experienced, hands-on manager with a strong mechanical engineering background and proven experience supervising workshop or production teams. The position is responsible for coordinating daily operations, driving productivity and quality, and ensuring all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.Key ResponsibilitiesManage daily, weekly, and monthly workshop schedules to ensure timely and high-quality productionOrganise workflow by assigning tasks, assessing resource requirements, and identifying efficiency improvementsMonitor production output against specifications, ensuring effective use of labour and materialsOversee BOMs and special instructions, providing feedback to relevant teams to reduce waste and improve efficiencyResolve day-to-day production issues to ensure smooth workshop operationsDrive continuous improvement initiatives across processes, cost control, and productivityEnsure safe use of equipment and coordinate maintenance and repairs with relevant teamsDevelop and manage a multi-skilled production team, including apprentices and traineesMaintain high standards of health & safety, hygiene, and workshop organisationImplement productivity and performance measurement toolsEnsure punctuality, performance, and accountability across workshop staffSupport wider operational goals by taking on additional responsibilities as requiredThe CandidateHolds an engineering qualification Proven experience as a Workshop Manager, Production Supervisor, or ForemanStrong background working with enginesDemonstrated leadership, coaching, and mentoring experienceExperience working within ISO9001 quality environmentsGood understanding of health & safety legislationStrong planning, organisation, and time management skillsConfident communicator with a hands-on leadership styleProficient with computer systems and workshop reporting toolsLean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience would be desirable Salary45,000 50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
