Interim Clerk of WorksLike the look of this opportunity Make sure to apply fast, as a high volume of applications is expected Scroll down to read the complete job description.Duration: 3-6 monthsRate: 350 per day (Ltd / Umbrella)Location: BexhillStart: ASAPAn opportunity is available for an experienced Interim Clerk of Works to support the delivery of a major capital development programme within a complex healthcare environment. The role will focus on quality, safety, and compliance across a live new hospital build project, from RIBA Stage 4 through handover and defects.This is a hands-on, site-facing role requiring a strong construction background and the ability to provide independent assurance across design, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as Clerk of Works, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with: Approved designs and technical specificationsStatutory compliance (Building Regulations, CDM, HTMs/HBNs where applicable)Agreed quality and safety standardsInspect construction works from RIBA Stage 4 to completion, including defects liability periodsReview and comment on: Design documentationRisk assessments and method statements (RAMS)Contractor quality plans and inspection/test plansMonitor contractor performance on site and identify non-compliance, defects, or poor workmanshipProvide clear, concise written assurance reports, highlighting risks, issues, and recommendationsLiaise with internal project managers, external consultants, contractors, and stakeholdersSupport commissioning, handover, soft landings, and operational readinessEnsure safe working practices are maintained on live healthcare sitesContribute to continuous improvement in quality and safety processesExperience & SkillsSignificant experience as a Clerk of Works / Construction Inspector / Site-based Quality RoleBackground in one or more of the following: Building ConstructionProject / Construction ManagementBuilding SurveyingProven experience working on complex xjdpvnf projects in healthcare, public sector, or comparable regulated environmentsStrong understanding of: Construction quality assuranceCDM RegulationsBuilding RegulationsNEC and/or JCT contractsAbility to read and interpret drawings and specificationsConfident communicator able to challenge constructively and professionallyStrong report writing and IT skills (MS Word, Excel)Able to work independently with minimal supervisionExperience working on NHS or healthcare capital projectsMembership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIOB, ICWCI, RICS)Experience supporting commissioning and defects processesKnowledge of HTMs, HBNs, and healthcare standards
