Job Description Mechanical Fitter - Test services & site facility support37,823MON-THUR 08:00-17:00FRI 08:00 - 13:20Site based : MK43Overtime availableJob Brief:The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for the safe maintenance; repair or replacement in parts of plant, equipment and systems.As part of a small and dedicated maintenance team you will be required to undertake all aspects of mechanical repairs. This may also include some fabrication and welding duties which will also be necessary in order to keep the plant operational and serviced in accordance with the sites maintenance schedules.Duties: Undertake maintenance, inspection, and repair of plant in accordance with the agreed maintenance regime, including scheduling new tasks. Ensuring that machinery and equipment meets safety regulations. Intervening in the event of breakdowns, failures or malfunctions. Set up equipment in an efficient manner, based on a sound technical understanding of the equipment and its functionality. Liaise with and manage suppliers and contractors to ensure the best possible service is delivered to the company. Diagnosis of mechanical issues with equipment/facility and facilitate its repair. Confined spaces and working at height.Skills & Experience: In-depth knowledge of complex mechanical, facility & electromechanical equipment. Ideally time served or City & Guilds or BTEC National qualification or equivalent in mechanical/electrical engineering. Good problem-solving skills with a methodical approach. Ability to work in a varied role, working effectively on multiple tasks in parallel. Self-motivated, conscientious with the ability to communicate effectively and work either independently or as part of a team. Well organised, good planning skills with an eye for detail. Acutely aware of all H&S aspects and a strong understanding of isolation and lockout procedures. A strong Mechanical and Electrical skillset, ideally with an emphasis on Mechanical Engineering. Full UK driving licence.Advantageous: A flexible and responsive attitude to go above and beyond when required. Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office programs. Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Good Health & Safety knowledge and attitude - understanding of and experience of carrying out risk assessments. Strong organization and planning skills. Confined spaces and working at height. Nifty Lift, scaffold towers, fork lift truck user.
