Purchaser – BedfordAs a Purchaser, you will take ownership of the procurement process across a range of structural and architectural steelwork projects. You’ll ensure that the right materials are sourced, purchased, and delivered to support project requirements while maintaining cost-effectiveness and quality.Key Duties:Sourcing and procuring steel, fixings, and associated materials for fabrication and installationNegotiating with suppliers to achieve the best pricing, quality, and lead timesBuilding and maintaining strong supplier relationshipsScheduling and coordinating deliveries to meet production and project deadlinesMonitoring stock levels and ensuring timely reordering of materialsPreparing and issuing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company proceduresWorking closely with the design, production, and site teams to align procurement with project needsMonitoring supplier performance and resolving any supply chain issuesSupporting budget control and cost reporting through accurate procurement recordsEnsuring all materials and suppliers meet required safety and compliance standardsThe Candidate:Proven experience in purchasing/procurement within the steelwork, construction, or engineering industriesStrong negotiation and supplier management skillsGood knowledge of steel and construction materialsHighly organised with the ability to manage multiple orders and deadlinesStrong communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external suppliersProficient in Microsoft Office and procurement/order systemsLocation & Projects:Office-based in BedfordProjects across London and the Home CountiesThis is an excellent opportunity to join a respected steelwork company, taking on a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
