Job Description Senior Designer Engineer - Fire & Life Safety SystemsA market-leading engineering services business is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to take ownership of complex, high-risk life safety projects from concept through to delivery.This is not a drafting role. This is a lead-from-the-front design position for someone who understands that great design is not about drawings alone - it's about risk, compliance, constructability, and protecting people in critical environments.You will be trusted to:Lead the full design lifecycle for large-scale fire suppression and life safety systemsTake responsibility for technical authority, design assurance, and regulatory complianceTranslate client requirements into buildable, coordinated, and commercially sound solutionsInterface with project managers, installers, authorities, and end-users with confidence and credibilityReview, challenge and improve specifications, calculations, layouts, and methodologiesMentor junior designers and raise the technical standard of the whole functionAct as the calm, competent voice when programmes are tight and decisions matterWe are looking for someone who:Has deep experience in fire protection / life safety / complex building services designIs comfortable carrying technical accountability, not just producing drawingsUnderstands British Standards, approvals, third-party certification and design riskCan think three steps ahead of site, commissioning, and maintenance teamsIs commercially aware - design decisions affect cost, programme and marginCommunicates with authority, not noiseThis role suits a professional who:Is trusted when things are complicatedIs precise, disciplined and unflappableDoesn't need supervision to do the right thingTakes pride in getting it right the first timeWants influence, not just responsibilityA highly competitive package is available, reflecting the level of technical ownership and leadership required.All conversations handled in strict confidence.If this sounds like a position of interest, please forward an updated CV asap!JBRP1_UKTJ
