Job Description Aureos is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to join our team based in Bathgate, Scotland.The HSQE Manager will provide the provision of competent health, safety, quality (assurance) and site environmental advice. Ensuring inspections and guidance for the site staff and management team is carried out.Providing challenge where required and not walking by. Promotion of safe equipment, standards and method of working. Managing and mentoring of those under their control, developing areas where the staff can improve their skills. Showing the behaviours expected and leading by example each and every time.This is a site-based role.Primary duties, responsibilities and accountabilitiesWhere unsafe working is identified, stop the works, agree and document suitable and safe solution and re-brief.Responsible for managing and mentoring of HSQE AdvisorsResponsible for ensuring HSQE specific KPI information is producedActive attendance and participation in internal / external meetings / forums / working groups to promote the business activitiesAssisting the operational team with reviewing of CDM documentationAssurance of process and working methods; monitor effectiveness of the business management systemTake an active role in developing, maintaining and promoting a positive HSQE cultureEnsuring compliance with standards and client requirementsUndertaking task analysis of risk assessment and method statements / Task briefingsProvide support and advice for staff to aid and promote sustainable practicesEnsure all requirements and findings are closed within the required timescalesFor ensuring any lessons are shared with the wider team and managing the team resource in the most cost effective and economical manner.Ensuring any problems or positives are raised to a higher level as necessary.Ensuring the required level and quality of HSE advice required is provided.Secondary duties, responsibilities and accountabilitiesLiaison with regulatory/enforcement bodies when requiredEncourage quality contributions and ensure timely close out and feedback is actioned, promote lessons learnt and good practice sharing.Build and maintain effective working relationships with site teams, clients and other stakeholdersPromotion of health and wellbeing support, and directing staff where requiredPrepare and deliver workforce (including subcontractors) engagement (tool box talks, awareness sessions)Lead on Level 2 investigationsProactively reducing risk through input and attendance during the planning processProvide support to tendering activity as requiredDeputise for Lead HSQE Manager where appropriateQualifications and TrainingEssential:NEBOSH Construction Level 3 Level 6 (or equivalent)IOSH Membership Grad Chartered (or equivalent)IEMA Practitioner member or above (or equivalent)Mental Health First AiderDriving LicenceKelvin Top Set 1 day 3 dayReport writing courseAureos Manager & Supervisor TrainingBehavioural Safety Training incl TCUPDesirable:CSCSEUSRPTSKnowledge and ExperienceEssential:Understanding of working methodsDesirable:Industrial knowledge across the infrastructure Services areas of BusinessBasics of management systemsSite inspections and risk assessment experienceSite experienceReviewing CDM and industrySustainability and carbon captureSkills and abilitiesEssential:Excellent listening behavioursPositive attitudeAbility to work weekends when required.Ability to work overtime when required.Ability to use IT systems including Microsoft 365, and HSQE specific systems.Desirable:Excellent time management and relationship skills, comfortably working effectively within a broad range of working environments.Strong interpersonal skills able to communicate clearly to inform and influence others; uses appropriate, effective methods to deliver messages.Embraces and drives continuous improvement, challenging the status quo for the benefit of the business, supporting learning and development.Hands on approach to problem solvingExcellent standard of written and numerical literacyIn return you will receive.Generous Salary25 days Holiday with the option to buy morePensionCycle to work schemeHealth & wellbeing programmeEmployee benefits portal.On-site parkingPrivate medical insuranceReferral SchemeEqual opportunitiesAureos are an equal opportunities employer, and we are determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, age disability, religion, belief, sexual orientation, marital status or race, or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements which cannot be shown to be justifiable.
