Data Protection Paralegal

We are proud to be partnering with a University who are looking to appoint a Data Protection Paralegal on an initial 3-month temporary basis.This will be a full-time position based predominantly from home, with attendance required in the West Midlands approximately once per month, and an hourly rate of circa £25 per hour via an Umbrella companyThe ideal candidate will have significant experience handling Subject Access Requests. Duties will include (but are not limited to):Responding to incoming data protection queries from staff, students, and external parties, providing clear and consistent advice in line with internal policies and legislationManaging and responding to SARs in line with statutory deadlines under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act, using purview to run system queries and collate relevant documentation across various departments and databasesReviewing and redacting documents appropriately, ensuring compliance and accuracyProcessing requests for personal data from third parties, including the police and other authorities, ensuring all such disclosures are lawful, justified, and fully documented Experience required:Experience within Higher Education is highly desirableExperience dealing with subject access requestsA strong understanding of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and their application in a complex organisation Working hours:37 hours per weekMonday – Friday, 9am-5pm Please note that you require recent experience to apply for this role.
