AEROSPACE - Technical Author Contract - 6 Months (OUTSIDE IR35)We are seeking an experienced Technical Author to support the development, certification, manufacture, and ongoing support of aerospace products. The role focuses on producing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation across the full engineering lifecycle, ensuring alignment with aerospace standards and regulatory expectations.This position requires hands-on collaboration with engineering and programme teams and is fully onsite due to the nature of the work.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical DocumentationCreate and maintain structured, accurate technical documentation, including:-Engineering requirements and specifications-Design descriptions and technical reports-Verification documentation, including test plans, procedures, and reportsConvert complex engineering data into clear, well-organised technical content suitable for multiple stakeholdersEngineering CollaborationWork closely with engineers and project teams to gather, review, and validate technical informationActively challenge and clarify content to ensure technical accuracy and completenessStandards, Compliance & CertificationEnsure documentation complies with relevant aerospace standards and regulatory requirementsSupport certification activities, customer reviews, audits, and formal assessmentsMaintain traceability between requirements, design outputs, and verification evidenceEssential Skills & ExperienceProven experience as a Technical Author / Technical Writer within the aerospace sectorStrong ability to understand and document complex engineering systemsExcellent written English with meticulous attention to detailExperience managing controlled documentation and versioningConfident working with multidisciplinary technical teams in a regulated environmentDesirable ExperienceExperience working to aerospace documentation standardsFamiliarity with certification, compliance, and verification documentationBackground documenting requirements, specifications, and test evidenceBasic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or software-based systems
