Ocean Import Clerk

We’re currently seeking an experienced Ocean Import Operator to manage end-to-end ocean freight processes at our clients office in Basildon. Key Responsibilities Oversee import shipments from booking through to final delivery Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, and carriers Handle customs entries in line with UK compliance standards Track shipments and provide regular customer updates Verify and process freight invoices (ocean, port, and customs fees) Prepare arrival notices and delivery instructions Resolve delays/discrepancies and communicate with clients and internal teams Deliver excellent customer service and maintain strong relationships Requirements 3-4 years’ experience in ocean import operations within freight forwarding Strong knowledge of shipping documents (B/L, invoices, packing lists) Understanding of customs clearance procedures and INCOTERMS Confident handling FCL and LCL shipments Familiar with port operations and container logistics Experience with customs systems (e.g., CHIEF, CDS) Highly organised, detail-oriented, and effective under pressure ...
