Ocean Import Clerk

We’re currently seeking an experienced Ocean Import Operator to manage end-to-end ocean freight processes at our clients office in Basildon.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee import shipments from booking through to final deliveryLiaise with overseas agents, shipping lines, and carriersHandle customs entries in line with UK compliance standardsTrack shipments and provide regular customer updatesVerify and process freight invoices (ocean, port, and customs fees)Prepare arrival notices and delivery instructionsResolve delays/discrepancies and communicate with clients and internal teamsDeliver excellent customer service and maintain strong relationshipsRequirements3–4 years’ experience in ocean import operations within freight forwardingStrong knowledge of shipping documents (B/L, invoices, packing lists)Understanding of customs clearance procedures and INCOTERMSConfident handling FCL and LCL shipmentsFamiliar with port operations and container logisticsExperience with customs systems (e.g., CHIEF, CDS)Highly organised, detail-oriented, and effective under pressure
