We’re looking for a Compliance Expert with excellent attention to detail, as part of our Compliance team. Our Compliance team are responsible for providing oversight to the Habito business and customer mortgage journey, ensuring adherence with Habito’s and the FCA’s regulatory standards. The successful candidate will be able to combine their existing compliance experience with the best technology and great teamwork to ensure mortgage advice regulations and fair outcomes for our customers are met.More about what you’ll do:Evaluating mortgage and protection journeys in line with Habito policy and external regulations to ensure appropriate complianceProviding technical compliance advice and guidance to our Mortgage Expert, Case Management, Lending and Insurance teamsProviding regular support and guidance to the wider businessProviding case specific feedback to the Mortgage & Protection Expert teams around file review findingsProviding independent and accurate reporting of Habito’s compliance landscapeConducting compliance monitoring of the first line and second lineSupporting risk and compliance assessments including thematic reviews and targeted deep divesAssist with the documentation, implementation and streamlining of procedures and processesConduct due diligence on customers, partners, and suppliers, ensuring robust oversight of both regulatory and data protection risks.Monitor third-party data processors and ensure contracts include appropriate data protection clauses.Developing and maintaining a communication programme to ensure all stakeholders are fully trained and aware of relevant risks and related requirements and responsibilitiesConducting root cause analysis of compliance issues that arise, considering the regulatory, commercial and reputational impactsSupport projects and change initiatives relating to SMCR, Consumer Duty, conflicts of interest, regulatory reporting, data protection compliance, and records retention.You’ll have:A strong understanding of the compliance disciplines, FCA principles and data protectionA good working knowledge of the end-to-end mortgage process is preferred, but not essential.Demonstrable experience in operating in environments where compliance frameworks are followedAble to deliver in a fast paced and demanding environmentAn attention to detail, with a methodical and organised approachGood communication and stakeholder management skillsSelf-motivation and prepared to take responsibility and ownership of tasksThe ability to prioritise to meet tight deadlinesHard working, tenacity and a focused mind setThe ability to work independently, using their initiative and work as part of a wider teamThe ability to comfortably handle change and in a fast-evolving environment**The stated experience level is a guide and does not preclude applications from candidates with more or less experience, provided the requisite skills can be demonstratedIf you want to be part of a team whose driving purpose is to make mortgages easier, we’d love to hear from youThe benefitsCompetitive basic salary + discretionary bonus (company performance dependent)Remote-first workingFlexible holiday - 25 days holiday and more if you need it!
