Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJOB TITLE: QC Welding InspectorLOCATION: South AberdeenJob Purpose:The QC Welding Inspector role is integrated into the fabrication department with responsibility for the day-to-day weld/dimensional inspection of the fabrication shop.Responsibilities and Duties:Welding Quality AssuranceInspect welds before, during, and after welding for compliance with specifications.Ensure traceability of materials, welders, and procedures.Verify correct weld procedures and qualified personnel are used.Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate records: weld maps, dimensional reports, QA documentation, and job cards.Record and collate welding process data (e.g., temperatures, readings).Sign off welding reports and review radiographs (if qualified).Testing & ComplianceArrange and oversee NDT and mechanical testing.Ensure NDT techniques meet client and company standards.Identify and resolve non-conformances and inspection issues.Health, Safety & EnvironmentPromote safe handling of materials and compliance with COSHH.Implement risk assessments, safety audits, and equipment checks.Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies.Collaboration & SupervisionLiaise with clients, certifying authorities, and third-party inspectors.Support and supervise apprentices and trainees.Work closely with fabrication and QA teams to meet production schedules.Qualifications:Desirable:CSWIP 3.1 qualification (renewable every 5 years)Skills:Proficient in welding processes: MMA, TIG, MIG, MAG, flux core, sub arcKnowledge of various material grades: carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminiumAbility to interpret technical drawings (assembly, isometrics, structural, piping, P&ID)Strong time management and adherence to proceduresProficient in MS Excel, Word, OutlookPersonal AttributesHigh attention to detail and concentrationExcellent communication and organizational skillsProactive and confident working independentlyTeam-oriented and hands-on approachTo apply for this role, please contact Hannah Thomson at TEXO Recruitment on 07768 735732 or send your CV to [email protected]
