The organisation plays a key role in supporting the regional agricultural sector and is committed to maintaining high standards of operational efficiency, compliance, and animal welfare.The Livestock Manager will work closely with the Yard Manager and wider livestock team to ensure smooth sale-day operations and high welfare standards across the site.Livestock Manager - The Job Role Details:You will be responsible for overseeing livestock operations within the sales yard, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant handling of stock both pre- and post-sale.This is a key operational leadership role requiring a hands-on approach, strong organisational capability, and a clear commitment to animal welfare and regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities:Manage the lairaging of livestock both pre- and post-saleResponsibiity for managing a small team of staff including delegation of duties and creating rotasOversee the safe and efficient movement of stock around the mart on sale daysEnsure staff are allocated appropriately to maintain smooth sale flowLead and coordinate yard staff within a busy sales environmentManage livestock documentation, ensuring accurate record keeping and traceabilityEnsure full compliance with existing livestock market legislationMaintain high standards of animal welfare at all timesSupport adherence to Health & Safety requirements for staff and customersEssential Candidate Skills & Experience:Full UK driving licenceProven experience handling livestock, particularly sheepStrong knowledge of animal welfare standardsNatural team leader with the ability to organise and direct staffExperience working in a fast-paced agricultural or livestock environmentStrong organisational and prioritisation skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a wider teamGood communication skillsDesirable:Experience within a livestock mart environmentExperience driving quad bikes and handling farm equipmentAwareness of livestock market legislation and compliance processesWorking Hours:45 - 55 hours per weekYou will be required to work 1-2 weekends per month on a rota basisHow to Apply:Please click on the 'apply now' button.
