York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – Vacancy Are you ready to challenge and develop your surgical skills within our dermatology team?We are currently seeking a compassionate, skilled, and motivated Band 6 Skin Surgery Specialist Nurse to join our Dermatology team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a Nationally accredited Skin Surgery Qualification looking to develop their surgical skills in the specialist area of Dermatology.The role will involve delivering a skin surgery service for patients with suspected skin cancer or taking biopsies for diagnostic purposes. We currently run services covering York, Malton, Selby and Scarborough and are looking to widen this to Bridlington. The applicant must be able to travel when required.You will work alongside the Dermatology Sister to work on a service development project with the aim of providing service equitability at all our sites.ResponsibilitiesPerform a daily Skin Surgery Service for patients with suspected skin cancer or taking biopsies for diagnostic purposes.Prioritise and escalated patient care according to information from the clinical team, being aware of each patient’s situation/pathway and ensuring these comply with current Trust policies and Government waiting time targets.Serve as the first point of contact for people who may need wound assessments, and assess, monitor and deliver wound care advice and initiate action as required.Attend and participate in Dermatology MDT/service improvement meetings.Build good relationships with other clinical and operational team members.Ensure compliance with waiting list pressures/targets and escalated where issues arise.Assist with the induction and ongoing training of new healthcare staff and nurses.Review and update working practices, follow and implement policies within the team, and contribute/propose changes to policy where necessary.Work within a team to update current audit practice for service improvement.Communicate effectively, both internally and externally, encouraging continuous service improvement and raising the profile of the service with the support of the Dermatology Sister.Travel between Trust sites and external partners as and when required.BenefitsAccess to the NHS Pension Scheme, providing generous benefits upon retirement, as well as a lump sum and pension for dependants.27 days holiday rising to 33 days (depending on NHS Trust service).A variety of different types of paid and unpaid leave covering emergency and planned leave.Confidential advice and support on personal, work, family and relationship issues, 24/7, from our Employee Assistance Programme.NHSS Car Lease scheme and Cycle to Work scheme.An extensive range of learning and development opportunities.Discounts on restaurants, getaways, shopping, motoring, cinema and finance from a range of providers.Working for the Trust Across our organisation, people are guided by values that were co‑developed with staff: we are kind; we are open; and we pursue excellence.Our values play into our ambition to develop a more diverse workforce, truly representative of our communities.
