Their products deliver rapid, precise, and actionable test results that improve health outcomes.As part of this journey, we are seeking a Molecular Assay Development Scientist to join the growing R&D team and play a key role in developing next-generation molecular diagnostic technologies.The RoleThis is a hands-on laboratory role focused on the development and optimisation of nucleic acid amplification assays for rapid diagnostic platforms.You will take ownership of assay development work, from experimental design through to optimisation and troubleshooting, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to translate molecular chemistry into robust, product-ready diagnostic solutions.This role is ideal for a scientist who enjoys practical problem solving, working at pace, and contributing to a product-focused R&D environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and optimise assays (e.g. PCR and related methods)Develop and evaluate primers, probes and detection chemistriesOptimise reaction conditions (enzymes, buffers, salts, additives)Assess assay performance (sensitivity, specificity, speed, robustness)Develop reagent formulationsDesign and execute experiments, analyse data and troubleshoot performance issuesSupport development of multiplex assays and new diagnostic targetsCollaborate with engineering teams to integrate assays into diagnostic platformsMaintain clear experimental records and contribute to technical documentationAbout YouYou are a hands-on, curious scientist who enjoys working in the lab and solving real-world technical challenges.You will likely have:A degree (BSc, MSc or PhD) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or similarPractical experience with nucleic acid amplification technologies (e.g. PCR)Experience designing or evaluating primers and probesStrong experimental design and troubleshooting skillsAbility to analyse data and optimise assay performanceDesirable experience includes:Molecular diagnostics or assay developmentFluorescence-based detection chemistriesReagent stabilisation / lyophilisationWorking in an R&D or startup environmentWhy Join ElectraDX?This is a unique opportunity to join a high-growth diagnostics startup at an early stage, working alongside a leadership team with a proven track record of building and scaling globally successful diagnostic businesses.You will benefit from:High visibility and ownership of your workThe opportunity to see your science translate into real diagnostic productsA collaborative, multidisciplinary R&D environmentClear progression into more senior scientific responsibility as the company growsIf youre excited by the opportunity to develop next-generation molecular diagnostics that can improve patient outcomes, wed love to hear from you.
