Job Description Location: Plymouth, DevonSector: Marine Engineering / ManufacturingSalary: 40,000Opportunities for ProgressionA well-established marine engineering company based in Plymouth is looking to appoint a Buyer to support the procurement of materials, components and services required across a range of engineering and marine projects.This is a key role within the business, ensuring that projects are supported by a reliable and cost effective supply chain, helping the organisation deliver high-quality work to its customers.Key ResponsibilitiesSource and purchase materials, components and services required for marine engineering projectsRaise and manage purchase orders through the companys procurement or ERP systemBuild and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractorsMonitor supplier performance including cost, quality and deliveryNegotiate pricing, lead times and terms with suppliersWork closely with engineering, production and project teams to understand procurement requirementsTrack delivery schedules and resolve supply chain issues where necessaryMaintain accurate procurement records and supplier informationIdentify opportunities for cost savings and supply chain improvementsWhat Were Looking ForPrevious experience in a Buyer / Procurement / Supply Chain roleExperience within engineering, manufacturing or marine environmentsStrong supplier negotiation and relationship management skillsExperience using procurement systemsGood organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsDesirable ExperienceExperience sourcing mechanical, electrical or fabricated componentsExperience working within a marine, shipbuilding or engineering / manufacturing environmentCIPS qualification or working towards itWhats on OfferOpportunity to join a well-established marine engineering businessInvolvement in interesting engineering and marine projectsCompetitive salary and benefits packageA collaborative and supportive working environment
