Job Description Job Title: Commercial Claims HandlerLocation: Office Based (Monday Friday, 9:00am 5:00pm)Salary: 30,000 50,000 (flexible for the right candidate, depending on experience)About the roleA well-established and growing insurance brokerage is seeking an experienced Commercial Claims Handler to join its expanding claims team. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a strong broking background who enjoys managing claims from notification through to settlement, while delivering a high standard of service to clients and insurers.The role will primarily focus on the handling of fleet claims, which currently form a significant part of the day-to-day claims activity. However, the successful candidate will ideally have exposure to a wider range of commercial claims including Employers Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), and Contractors All Risks (CAR).This position will develop over time, and the business is looking for someone who can also act as a technical support and sounding board for junior team members as the team continues to grow.Key ResponsibilitiesManaging a caseload of commercial insurance claims from first notification through to settlementHandling a high volume of fleet claims, ensuring prompt and accurate progressionLiaising with clients, insurers, loss adjusters, solicitors, and other third parties to ensure efficient claims outcomesEnsuring claims are managed in line with policy terms, insurer requirements, and FCA regulationsProviding clear and confident advice to clients throughout the lifecycle of the claimReviewing documentation, gathering evidence, and supporting the negotiation of fair settlementsIdentifying potential coverage issues, reserving considerations, and escalation requirementsMaintaining accurate claims records and diary management to ensure deadlines are metSupporting junior members of the team with technical guidance and best practice processesAssisting with continuous improvement of internal claims processes and proceduresSkills & Experience Required23 years experience handling commercial claims within an insurance broking environmentStrong working knowledge of fleet claims handling is highly desirableExposure to EL / PL / CAR claims would be advantageousConfident communicator with strong relationship management skillsExcellent organisational skills and ability to manage a busy caseload effectivelyStrong technical understanding of claims handling procedures and insurer processesAbility to work independently while also contributing to a team environmentA proactive mindset and willingness to support and mentor junior colleaguesDesirableProgress towards, or completion of, CII qualifications (or willingness to work towards them)Experience handling more complex or disputed claimsExperience dealing directly with insurers and loss adjusters at a technical levelWhats on OfferCompetitive salary with flexibility for the right candidateOffice-based working environment (Monday Friday, 9am5pm)Opportunity to play a key part in a developing claims function within a growing brokerageCareer progression and increasing responsibility as the role evolves
