At flowio, we believe AI should empower teams rather than replace them, creating practical solutions that deliver continuous improvement.We are open to graduate level candidates that have a background in programming, web development and a keen interest in automation and AI.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, remote role for an AI & Automation Specialist. You must be based in the UK and have the legal right to work within the UK. Due to client commitments - you must be either Scotland based, or able to commute to central Scotland when required. The specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and troubleshooting automation systems tailored to each clients needs. Responsibilities include designing and optimising workflow processes, conducting performance tests, ensuring high-quality standards through effective quality assurance practices, and helping clients leverage AI capabilities in their operations. Collaboration with internal teams and clients will be key to translating their challenges into efficient automation and AI-powered solutions.This is a hands-on role, where you will work closely with the founder - who is also leading automation solutions architecture. We'll provide the tools, the knowledge, and you bring your ability to turn client briefs into scalable, production-ready infrastructure. What you'll do:Design and build impactful, production-grade automation workflows using n8n, custom API integrations, and AI-powered business logic. You'll work directly with clients to map their manual processes, architect scalable solutions, and deploy end-to-end automated systems that deliver measurable ROI.About You:You'll have some experience building workflows in code or low-code environments. You'll be a self-starter with a passion for AI and automation, and a drive to deliver results. You'll be able to demonstrate delivering a successful project from requirements to production - without simply using Claude Code. You'll be curious to learn about new technology and platforms, and ways of working. Key ResponsibilitiesArchitect and deploy custom n8n workflows, webhook integrations, and data pipelines for UK business clientsConduct or assist discovery calls and process-mapping sessions to identify high-impact automation opportunitiesIntegrate third-party APIs (CRMs, ERPs, payment platforms, marketing tools) into cohesive automated workflowsBuild and maintain internal tools, dashboards, and reporting systems using JavaScript, Python, and SQLCollaborate with the team to deliver projects on time, produce technical documentation, and provide client trainingRequirements0-2+ years of hands-on experience building automated workflows (n8n, Zapier, Make, or similar low-code or no-code based environments)Strong proficiency in either JavaScript, TypeScript or PythonExperience with REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth flows, and data transformationComfortable working with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB)Strong understanding of relational database design and SQLSecurity by design practice experienceExcellent communication skills - this is not a 'behind the scenes role' - you'll work closely with clients to turn briefs into automation solutions within timelinesWe are not interested in candidates who also own an AI automation agencyMust reside and have the legal right to work in the UKNice to HaveExperience with LLM / AI API integration (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini APIs)Experience with TTS and Voice APIs (Elevenlabs, Vapi, Retell etc.)Experience in telephony APIs (Twilio, Soho66, Xcall etc.)Familiarity with Docker, Linux server administration, or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)Prior agency or consultancy experienceBased in Scotland (due to client commitments)Interview ProcessWe'll have a short, informal call if shortlisted to discuss your fit and interest in the role.
