If yes, read on....My client is an established engineering firm based in Cheddar and commutable from Draycott, Axbridge, Wedmore, Badgworth and Winscombe. They are currently looking for a skilled Manual Machinist / Fitter to join their team.The Role: Machinist FitterOperating manual lathes and mills to fabricate and repair components for electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, and fansCollaborating with engineers to diagnose issues and determine repair strategies for various mechanical systemsThe role will also require a degree of welding and general engineeringEnsuring precision and quality in machining tasks to meet specified tolerances and standardsAdhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organised workshop environmentParticipating in training programs to develop skills in CNC machining, as the company provides training in this areaReview samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of outputPlan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a jobBe available for call-out and overtime.Perform any other duties within your capabilities as directed by the Workshop ManagerMinimum Skills / Experience Required: Manual Miller / Manual TurnerTime-served engineer with a proven record of manual/conventional turning, milling, and general machining, together with proven mechanical fitting skillsAdditional experience with CNC and XYZ machines would be an advantage, but is not essential; training will be providedThe ability to use CAD/Solidworks package would be an advantageThe role will also require a degree of welding and general engineeringExperience in using manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc)Experience with welding and balancing would be beneficialReading Technical Drawings: Ability to interpret engineering drawings to manufacture or repair components to specificationMachining to Fine TolerancesExperience with using measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, callipers) to ensure accuracy and qualityCNC Experience (Desirable but Not Essential): Some knowledge of CNC machining is beneficial, especially if they aim to transition into CNC roles (training provided)Workshop Safety Practices: Knowledge of and adherence to health and safety standards in an engineering environmentThe Package: Manual MachinistBase Salary up to 33k per annumDay shifts 8am-5pm Mon-Fri 40-hour weekAdditional on-call bonuses and enhanced overtime ratesCompany vehicle provided for on-call jobsPrivate Healthcare28 days holidayPension schemeProgression OpportunitiesInterested? xjdpvnf We'd love to hear from you!
