Senior Technical Author LondonScroll down to find the complete details of the job offer, including experience required and associated duties and tasks.Industry: Defence, Maritime & Advanced EngineeringContract Type: PermanentSecurity: UK Security Clearance requiredSummary Recruiting on behalf of a leading defence and advanced engineering organisationOpportunity to join an established Technical Authoring function supporting complex hardware and software systemsRole involves producing clear, accurate and user-friendly documentation for highly engineered productsExposure to cutting-edge and world-leading technologies within a regulated environmentSuitable for both Technical Author and Senior Technical Author levels, depending on experienceFlexible, varied role working across multiple projects and engineering disciplines Responsibilities Develop, maintain and support technical documentation, including User manuals, Maintenance manuals & Service bulletinsTranslate complex engineering concepts into clear, concise language using Simplified Technical EnglishEnsure documentation complies with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirementsWork closely with engineers, project managers and support teams to gather and validate technical informationManage document revisions and configuration control throughout the product lifecycleSupport digital documentation, including interactive manuals and online help systemsProduce and maintain documentation using S1000D, taking ownership of assigned publicationsCreate or support technical drawings where requiredEngage flexibly across multiple projects, balancing cost, quality and schedule considerationsSupport Mechanical Engineering and Configuration Management activities as demand arisesDevelop broader engineering knowledge as part of the role Skills, Qualifications & ExperienceExperience working as a Technical Author within an engineering, manufacturing or regulated environmentStrong understanding of engineering principles and technical terminologyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft OfficeExperience with xjdpvnf documentation tools (nice to have, not essential), such as: Adobe Frame Maker & MadCap FlareKnowledge or experience of S1000D standardsAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrentlyComfortable working with detail-heavy technical information Personal Attributes Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport across diverse teamsConfident communicator, able to adapt communication style to suit different audiencesProactive approach to resolving conflict and promoting collaborative workingCapable of mentoring and supporting less experienced colleaguesDetail-oriented with a structured and methodical approach
