Job Description Civil Design EngineerLocation: BasingstokeSalary: 35,000 - 45,000 (DOE)Working Pattern: Hybrid & Flexible WorkingI'm currently working with a well-established, multi-disciplinary Civil, Structural and Geotechnical Engineering consultancy with a strong reputation across UK infrastructure. With over four decades of industry experience and a team of around 120 technical professionals, the business has achieved steady growth through a commitment to quality, collaboration and long-term client partnerships.Due to continued expansion, they are now looking to appoint a Civil Design Engineer to join their team in Basingstoke.This is a hands-on design role, reporting to the Discipline Lead, where you will support the delivery of drainage and infrastructure schemes across a wide range of UK projects. Their portfolio spans commercial, public sector, rail, residential and temporary works, offering genuine variety and strong technical exposure.The RoleYou will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept design through to detailed design and delivery. Responsibilities will include:Preparing detailed designs for drainage, highways and associated infrastructure works across residential, commercial, education and leisure developmentsProducing technical drawings, calculations and supporting reports for planning and construction stagesAssisting with flood risk assessments and drainage strategiesUndertaking site visits, inspections and surveys to inform design developmentWorking collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver projects to programme and quality standardsLiaising with clients, local authorities and stakeholdersSupporting senior engineers in the preparation of tenders and fee proposalsThis position offers strong hands-on technical exposure across the full project lifecycle, alongside structured mentoring and support for those working towards Chartership.Preferred ExperienceExperience using Causeway Flow or MicroDrainage (Causeway Flow preferred)Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3DExperience delivering drainage design for residential, commercial or similar developmentsUnderstanding of UK design standards and planning requirementsAwareness of flood risk assessments and planning support documentationWorking towards Chartered status (ICE) or with the ambition to do soSector experience in infrastructure designA proactive and collaborative approach with strong communication skillsFull UK driving licence and access to own transportPermanent right to work in the UK with prior UK project experienceEngineers with relevant drainage or infrastructure design experience who may not meet every requirement are still encouraged to apply.Remuneration & BenefitsCompetitive salary between 35,000 - 45,000 depending on experienceHybrid working with flexible hoursMinimum 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, plus your birthday offOption to purchase additional leaveAnnual discretionary bonusPrivate medical insuranceContributory pension scheme (up to 5%)Cycle to work schemeRelaxed and supportive office environmentIf you would like to discuss this opportunity in more detail, or explore other roles within civil, structural or geotechnical engineering, please feel free to get in touch for a confidential conversation.Will Herman 07581619823 Aldwych Consulting values diversity and promotes equality.
