Job Description Senior Solution Architect (Operational Technology)Location: Ipswich, Suffolk (Hybrid 3 days office / 2 days remote after probation)Salary: Up to 95,000 + 7.5% bonus (depending on skills and experience)Contract: PermanentAbout the roleThis organisation is undertaking a significant programme to modernise and transform its Operational Technology (OT) landscape. As Senior Solution Architect (Operational Technology), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of critical operational systems that underpin the safe, reliable and sustainable delivery of essential services.Reporting to the Architecture Manager and based within the Strategy, Regulation and Support Services directorate, you will lead the architectural design and assurance of the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) estate. You will define both current and future-state architectures, drive standardisation, and guide the adoption of innovative technologies including AI-enabled dispatch, fault prediction and agentic orchestration.This is a high-impact role where you will influence up to 20m of technology investment, working closely with senior stakeholders, delivery teams, suppliers and partners to ensure solutions are aligned to strategic objectives and architecture principles.What you'll be doingAct as the technical design authority for the ADMS platform, ensuring solutions align with architecture, cyber security and operational standardsDefine, communicate and evolve current and target-state OT architecturesLead complex architectural transformations across multiple vendors and internal teamsDevelop and govern platform architecture lifecycles, reference models, standards and design patternsChampion standardisation and minimise unnecessary customisationProduce roadmaps that enable frequent, incremental delivery of valueProvide trusted advisory support to business leaders and delivery teamsReview and assure technical designs through an Architecture Review BoardSupport areas such as data migration, environments, interfaces, legacy retirement and documentationCoach and mentor junior architects and technical team membersTrack and analyse performance metrics to optimise OT solutionsWhat we're looking forYou'll be an experienced senior architect who thrives in complex environments and can bridge the gap between business needs and advanced technology solutions.Essential experience and skills:Proven experience as a Senior Architect (or equivalent) in a large, complex IT or OT environmentStrong knowledge of Operational Technology systems and middlewareHands-on experience with Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS)Expertise in systems integration, APIs, data architecture and analyticsExperience integrating on-premise platforms with cloud solutionsStrong understanding of cyber security architecture, IAM and secure system designExperience working with technology and solution vendorsAbility to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior stakeholdersExperience applying enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or ArchiMateComfortable working in Agile environmentsDesirable:Experience in the utilities or electricity distribution sectorExposure to AI-enabled operational systems and predictive technologiesJBRP1_UKTJ
